Olaplex Hair Colour Treatment @ Preen, Dublin //

Sunday 18 December 2016

It's being touted as the most exciting moment in hair salons since the Brazilian Blow Dry, so of course I had to road-test the latest 'holy grail for coloured hair'  Olaplex.

Everyone's talking about it and no wonder, as hair colour trends get more frequent and more experimental, Kim Kardashian recently said that it was the reason she could go from black to blonde and back again with minimal damage.

In a nutshell, Olaplex is a turbo-charged conditioning treatment that repairs disulphate sulfur bonds within the hair structure, which can be broken down by heat, colouring or other chemical treatments. The natural disulfide bonds in hair are necessary to keep hair pliable and healthy. Bleaching, colouring, hot tools, excessive brushing and environmental factors can all lead to damaged bonds and ultimately breakage. Olaplex is able to create a synthetic disulfide bond in the hair which repairs the weak links in the protein strands allowing hair to appear healthier and stronger after just one treatment.

We got our Olaplex treatment applied at Preen, Dublin , which is the ultimate girl's boudoir. Small and intimate with Prosecco and cupcakes served while the treatment was applied.

There are 3 steps in the treatment.
Step 1- Our stylist applied this yellow liquid from root to tip for 5 minutes. This is the most concentrated solution in the line.  You can add step 1 to your bleach or hair colour and it will help to protect the hair and rebuild the bonds during the chemical process.
Step 2- This is a cream based solution known as 'a bond perfector' . It is left on for 10 minutes. It's a less concentrated version of the Step 1.  It is designed to repair any bonds that weren't repaired by Step 1 due to a missed application area, poor saturation or if bonds need just a little extra love. The hair can then be shampooed, conditioned and styled as usual.
Step 3-  This is where the magic happens.  You can use step 3 weekly to maintain the results.
One big and bouncy blow-dry later after lashings of Kevin Murphy texturising spray (love) and my hair had a mirror-like shine. The real proof is after you've washed and dried it yourself and it still looks as good. One wash down and my hair is just as soft, lustrous and strong as on the day. Total freedom of colour and elimination of damage - what's not to love? Oh yeah, think I'm in hair heaven!

We both were given 20% off any treatments/ makeup applications for the New Year. What a nice touch.
