Essie Gel-Setter //

Monday 26 October 2015

It’s not hard to see why so many people love gel manicures. Drying time: zip. Finish: glossy as it gets. But if you can't afford the time or money gel manicures require, nail brand 'Essie' have launched a 'Gel Setter' which will give your DIY manicure a 'gel' like finish without having to 'cure' it under a UV/LED lamp.
Sorted.

I love having a Shellac manicure but the downside is it does damage your nails, you have to return to the salon and have them removed by strong acetone and you are stuck with the same colour for 2-3 weeks. so I was thrilled at the prospect of this product. I love 'Essie' nail polishes but they are notoriously bad for chipping.

The new 'gel-setter', which is essentially a top coat, made up of a new acrylated copolymer formula, results in nails looking similar to the super shiny finish of a gel manicure. One of the benefits is it can be used over any nail polish.

It only took one coat of the Gel-Setter for me to see how amazing it is- nail colour appeared glossy and dried really quickly-no smudging! This top coat should help your polish last up to 7 days - no chipping and will remain super shiny.

No more Shellac manicures for me- yes, this gel-setter is that amazing.

Suede & Leather //

Sunday 25 October 2015

As soon as this jacket arrived on my doorstep, I knew it was the one I was looking for. Suede biker jackets are a huge clothing trend for the season but finding one that was the right fit for me and the right tanned colour was essential. I saw this one on Mango and immediately hit 'add to bag'.
The suede is luxuriously soft and fits me like a dream . I opted for a size small so that it allows me to wear some fine knitwear underneath after baby arrives.

Elemis Tri-Enzyme Facial //

Friday 23 October 2015

This week, I had the pleasure of indulging in an Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial at the Sirana Spa, Sheraton, Athlone. It is a 60-minute resurfacing treatment which uses three targeted enzymes to accelerate the skin's biological exfoliation process.

The reason this facial is so popular is that it is a 'results driven' facial - you will see the clinically proven results after just one treatment. It helps the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates cell regeneration , reduces pigmentation and acne scarring as well as being a deeply cleansing facial.

During the Tri-Enzyme facial, Cathriona, my therapist cleansed my skin with the Tri-Enzyme Facial Wash, a daily treatment that speeds up the natural cell renewal cycle of your skin. This product leaves a newly cleansed complexion and allows maximum benefit from the rest of the resurfacing products.

As this facial helps bring a renewed level of evenness to the skin's surface and clarifies the complexion, it is one of the best facials for someone who suffers from acne or acne scarring- perfect for a bride to be or someone with a special occasion coming up.

Apparently after just one treatment you will expect to see up to 75% resurfacing and up to 32% increased skin smoothness. My therapist then exfoliated my skin with the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel, using fruit enzymes to exfoliate away the dead skin cells. Then a relaxing hand and arm massage is given while this product does its work.

Three different serums are used along with the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Lotion throughout the treatment. In the lotion,  you have trypsin and pepsin, two natural enzymes that help to breakdown dead skin cells. The therapist applies all three serums at different times throughout the treatment.

The first serum is for underneath the Tri-Enzyme peel-off mask. This quick-setting mask provides the skin with a deep cleanse and gentle exfoliation, and helps restore moisture levels, which i badly needed considering my dehydrated skin. On peeling off the mask, my skin appeared smooth, soft and imperfections appear diminished. The second serum is then applied, before a soothing cream mask. While both masks are on, I relaxed with a neck and shoulder massage and scalp massage. The third serum is applied and left on your skin. This reduces the likelihood of any aggression to the skin.

To finish the treatment, My therapist choose the 'Pro Collagen  Marine Cream' moisturiser, which quickly soaks into the skin leaving it soft and hydrated. I have used this before but at 108e per 50ml, it is definitely on the pricy side. She then applied some Liquid Layer, which is an SPF cream to protect the skin.

Results

After my skin felt deeply cleansed, extremely soft, radiant and smooth, and with any imperfections appearing diminished.
I love that this is a results-driven treatment, but also with some relaxation in mind. I really can't rate this spa highly enough- it is very well designed offering complete relaxation in a stunning spa within a busy town centre.

You can avail of 20% off any facials on a Friday @ the Sheraton, Athlone , Call 090 64 51058 for details.

Fall Street Style //

Thursday 22 October 2015

There are many new trends to try out this autumn, but it's really about finding the ones that are a good fit for you. Have a scroll at my best street style inspiration for ideas!

Similar to an LBD, a white button-up or a pair of black pumps, a leather jacket is a wardrobe staple that every woman should own. Firstly, they are timeless. They're always in style and can be worn throughout the year. In the fall, they are perfect to throw on over light blouses and floral dresses, while in the winter they are great layering pieces. And the longer you have them, the better they look

Meet the Stuart Weitzman All Legs, a stretch suede style that is perfect for this time of year. Because they can be worn over the pants, they give an extra layer of protection against the cold. For a timeless pair, boots should be simple with little to no embellishments.

Fur was majorly in as we saw on the runway shows, becoming one of the most prevalent trends on New York Fashion Week. Pairing it with a red lip finishes the look.

The blanket cape is here to stay and it's a great transitional piece, you can wear one of these shawls now if you’re jetting off- pack one in your hand luggage to keep you cosy in the cool temperatures of the airplane cabin. Come Winter, pair with jeans and a tee, and wear over layers instead of a coat. Stylish and practical- what's not to love?

The easiest way to spice up your winter wardrobe is to invest in a bright winter coat. This salmon hue makes you stand out in a sea of navy, blue and grey outerwear. And since a brighter coat makes a bold statement on its own, you can pair it with understated pieces like this striped tee and jeans, and still look pulled together.

The perfect coat / card combination in rich autumn colours. The bright burgundy boots are just perfect and very Rosie H-W!

A classic, it really is its own wonder garment - it almost doesn't matter what you have on underneath because the trench does all the talking and makes that first great impression. I love the bright pop of red in the form of this Celine tote.

A chic tailored coat for the girl who likes the classic style – this coat is a staple in the work wardrobe- Wear with brogues or knee high riding boots. I love the soft colour against her balayage hair.

For the slightly braver fashionista, wear a faux fur gilet with Stuart Weitzman Thigh High boots a la Rach Parcell. She manages to keep the look classy by wearing all black underneath.

This beautiful Prada Saffiano Lux Tote is the perfect Autumn bag- the straight lines and clean edges are basically perfect in their simplicity, and the stiff, tough saffiano leather will hold its shape for years to come.

The Winter Coat //

Tuesday 20 October 2015

One of my favourites trends for Winter 2015 comes in the form of a bright and happy hue of mustard.  It is all over the high street at the moment and is a great welcome with the grey dull skies. Black winter coats can sometimes be boring, very formal and can be draining on a pale Irish skin tone. Always one to make the latest trends her own, Olivia sports the perfect winter coat ensemble featuring a glowing mustard Valentino coat thrown over a Valentino blouse paired simply with a pair of Paige jeans, a Chloe Drew bag and suede Aquazzura x Olivia Palermo booties.
This look is perfection but at £2595 for Olivia's Valentino 'rockstud' version , the ZARA mustard coat with peter pan collar is a great match at only 80 euro (see below), LINK!

What do you think of the brighter winter coat?

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick, Bitch Perfect //

Monday 19 October 2015

Firstly, take a look at this packaging - stunning, an elegant rose-gold ridged metal case with the CT logo engraved in the lid.

The lipstick is from the Kissing Lipstick range and is enriched with an antioxidant that naturally protects the lips from UV damage and external pollution. It is blended with special waxes and light-diffusing pigments that are designed to leave your lips feeling soft, pert, soothed and hydrated.
I am in love with this lipstick, it is a soft pink nude colour on me, with a tiny hint of nude brown undertone. It’s a flattering your-lips-but-better shade that still gives your lips a soft wash of colour without washing you out, and is easy to pull off with any makeup look everyday. Perfect for those of you who love wearing nude lips, or anyone who is into natural looking lip colours. The pigmentation is really good and it lasted for almost 4 hours before I had to reapply.

Have you tried it yet?

Eyes to Mesmerise //

Saturday 17 October 2015

I have a serious love for cream products. So, when I found out that Charlotte Tilbury was launching a line of cream eyeshadows earlier this summer, I knew that I had to try them. Since then, they have become my holy grail and I never reach for anything else. I think they are little pots of magic for the eyes. If you're a fan of the Tom Ford Cream Eyeshadows, you will love these. The concept and texture of the Charlotte Tilbury's are similar to those of Tom Ford's. They both have a super creamy feel, they are easy to blend, they layer quite beautifully and you can control the pigment.

The shades I have pictured above are, from L-R, Jean, a gorgeous pale gold, Bette, a shimmering copper, and Marie Antoinette, an oyster gold.
Ms. Tilbury suggests using either your fingers to create a glossy, sheen eye look or a synthetic brush for a more intense, dramatic eye.  They also layer beautifully together without a struggle and still manage to look natural but intense if needed. Charlotte has an amazing youtube channel where you can watch her in all her glory applying these. LINK!
Cleopatra – vibrant smoky peacock / Norma Jean – sparkling, shimmering gold pink champagne / Marie Antoinette -soft golden mink / Veruschka – mink khaki / Bette Davis Eyes – burnished chocolate / Mona Lisa – warm amber bronze
I can't rave enough about these. I think all colours are outstanding and without doubt will be purchased when they run out.
Have you guys tried any of the Eyes to Mesmerise?

Olivia Palermo In Dublin //

Sunday 11 October 2015

Olivia Palermo wore BaubleBar while promoting her new nail polish collaboration in Dublin! The style icon accessorised her Preen floral dress with the Vial Collar ($68) and two Pearl Stud Cuff Bracelet ($38) from her BaubleBar x Olivia Palermo collection (www.baublebar.com).

This weekend , I met Olivia Palermo , who was in Dublin as part of her role with Ciatè London, celebrating their new makeup range at Brown Thomas. She is as flawless in person as you might expect and chatty, warm and lovely. She even asked all about my baby bump! Oh Olivia!

Discussing her new 11-piece range, including palettes and pencils, Palermo said her greatest style influence is her mother Lynn - so much so that she named her red nail polish, Hutch, after her.
And practicality is key with the former reality star's range, which comes in luxurious black and gold packaging, indicative of the style star's attention to detail.
"I've always wanted to be in the beauty industry and see how that worked," she said.
"There's only so much you can put into your handbag. We wanted to combine that and you weren't dragging along 10 different products and that you had one you can rely on."

Dress Preen , Shoes Louboutin

Getting up close and personal to Olivia, I can definitely learn a thing or two from her skin and beauty secrets. It's indisputable that the beautiful girl has flawless skin because even with her super natural no-makeup makeup look, her skin is absolutely radiant. For her everyday look she loves to go with a "matte foundation and a little bit of light contour, with a nude lip and smoky eyes,"  But the secret behind her flawless makeup application is that she takes great care of her skin.
Not only does she, "stay out of the sun, drink lots of water, and find creams that work best on her," but she also, "eats lots of berries," because "they’re full of antioxidants." The main skin products that she uses are Dr. Dennis Gross' Face Cleanser, SK-II Facial Treatment Masks and La Mer's The Body Crème

The Dream Team

Below, OP answers all the questions we so desperately want to know....

Olivia on her skincare rituals...
There’s no good excuse for sleeping in make-up — ever. It’s just good hygiene. It takes ten minutes to remove, and everyone has ten minutes. I’m not even high-maintenance with it — I just smooth Vaseline over my face and remove it with a cotton pad. It’s really effective.

Olivia on her favourite skincare products...
I don’t switch around my skincare. I’ve got a very simple routine. I use all the products from my dermatologist, Dr Dennis Gross, because they’re great. SK-II also does fantastic moisturisers — I think I might have used all of them. You know what’s especially great if you travel a lot? The SK-II Facial Treatment Masks. You look like a mummy with them on, but it’s so hydrating.

Olivia on facials...
I only ever go for results-driven facials. I don’t have indulgent ones, because they just seem to clog my pores. And I’ve never used a face scrub. I’ll only have one if I get a medical facial and the professional uses it on me.

Olivia on modelling...
When you’re on different shoots all the time, your skin can be destroyed. Before any shoot, I put on my own face products, then the make-up artist will apply the foundation and colour. As a model, you need to stick to your own products, because it’s important for your skin not to get congested. I’m fortunate to work with amazing make-up artists, but I’m still specific about what they put on my face, so my skin doesn’t take a beating.

Olivia on her make-up secrets...
I don’t usually give my secrets away. However, I do tell all the make-up artists I work with about Japanese company Mii Cosmetics. I love its Mii Miraculous Colour Corrector. It’s a super-small green concealer paste that you dot over a blemish to counteract the redness.

Olivia on her make-up staples...
I always stick to nude lips. I usually wear Christian Dior. A fresh, clean, natural look is the most beautiful. I apply my own make-up and I always use the same colour tones. I don’t really stray much in the evening. I may just use heavier eye make-up and add a few lashes.

Olivia on false eyelashes...
I’m a false-lashes expert. I’ve taught all my girlfriends how to apply them. You need Tweezerman Tweezers, Mac Duo Adhesive — it’s the only glue I’d recommend — and, if you’re using strips, some small hand scissors to cut them to your match your eyes. False lashes are great — I’m all for them. If it makes you feel better about yourself, why not?

Olivia on being blonde...
Being blonde was just a phase. I had to keep it for some time, because we were filming and needed it for continuity. My mom’s got blue eyes and the most beautiful blonde hair I’ve ever seen, but I’m a natural brunette and don’t dye my hair. I often use Living Proof products, and I go to the Julien Farel Salon in New York. The best hair product I’ve ever used is Julien Farel Vitamin Restore. You use it a few times a week instead of your shampoo and conditioner and it brings your hair’s PH balance back to normal. Anyone who uses it will feel like they’re in a hair commercial.

Olivia on being papped...
You won’t see me getting milk in sweat pants in one of those paparazzi shots. I like getting up and getting dressed. I do have days off from make-up entirely, whether it’s on vacation or just staying at home, because my skin needs to breathe.

Olivia on her haircare...
I wash my hair every morning to keep it clean, and I use a good moisturizing shampoo

Olivia on her AW15 collection with Ciatè
I took inspiration from New York for my A/W collection. New England in autumn is the main inspiration as there are always lots of rich colors, particularly the shades of violet which I love.

Olivia on her favourite Ciatè product...
The red nail polish Hutch , from my SS15 collection, is the most perfect red nail polish for every skin tone and I am really happy with how the colour looks.

Olivia on her favourite cult, cool skincare brands....
I use Dr. Dennis Gross religiously, my favourite product is his All In One Cleansing Foam,

Olivia on her favourite fragrance...
Orange Blossom by Jo Malone,

Olivia on her makeup inspiration for your wedding..
I wanted to be comfortable and keep it simple. It’s important to look like yourself on your wedding day and not go over the top with makeup so I went for a very natural look.

Olivia on her wedding hair...
It was a beautiful, warm day so a high ponytail helped to keep me cool.

Olivia on what she eats in a day...
I normally have a croissant in the morning, a salad for lunch and some kind of pasta for dinner.

Olivia on her favourite comfort food...
I love french fries.

Olivia on yoga...
Yoga really helps with my flexibility and strengthens my back. But currently I am obsessed with Flybarre – it works out my entire body.

Olivia on pampering..
I love taking a long bath, lots of Jo Malone and Diptyque candles and whatever new music playlists Johannes makes for me.

Olivia on the beauty tip you wish you could tell your younger self?
Don’t overpluck your brows!

Olivia on her beauty little black book?
In NYC I go to my dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross and when I’m in London, my facialist Fere.

Olivia on the best style advice you’ve ever received?
Always be comfortable in what you wear and wear clothes with confidence.

Olivia on the 5 items that would be in her dream capsule wardrobe?
Skinny Jeans, trench jacket, light knit sweater, flats, belt.

Olivia on  what music gets her in the mood for going out?
Anything Beyonce.

Olivia on her 3 beauty inspirations?
I have two, my mom and my aunt.

Olivia on 15 minutes to get ready..
Nails. They should always be clean and presentable.

Needless to say, Olivia Palermo should be everyone's skin, beauty and style goals!!
