Derma Genesis® Microdermabrasion @ The Skin & Laser Clinic

I paid a recent visit to the Skin & Laser Clinic , Athlone Town Centre,  for a microdermabrasion facial in the hope of clearer, brighter skin.

It claims to treat the following conditions ;

• Dull/Tired skin
• Rough Skin Texture
• Congested Skin
• Comedome removal, black and white heads
• Treats dry, oily skin, acne prone skin

Following a short consultation, the therapist began the 30 minute treatment.

It involves medical grade crystals vacuumed across the outer surface of the skin. The crystals remove the outermost layer by exfoliation, exposing living skin cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients. The underlying epidermis is also stimulated promoting new collagen which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effects of ageing.

Microdermabrasion goes deeper than other modes of exfoliation to help the skin replenish itself by stimulating cell re-growth.

I would say it was uncomfortable rather than painful, definitely not a relaxing facial!

There was absolutely no downtime so I walked straight out of the clinic into the shops , albeit a slighter redder face!

A few days in, my skins texture has improved and there may be a hint of a luminous glow!

Microdermabrasion works best when used in a series of treatments.
