Cult Beauty #1 To clarisonic or not to clarisonic .....

Wednesday, 4 June 2014

This little tool that has won numerous awards, is featured in every Top Beauty Buy list and even Oprah raves about it!

What is it?

It's time to think beyond the washcloth and cleanse your skin with this; traditional methods of cleansing don't get your skin as clean as you'd think.

Clarisonic's patented sonic technology works with skin's natural elasticity to gently remove the impurities traditional methods leave behind, cleansing 6x better than your hands alone. In just 60 seconds, the sonic action removes impurities from pores so creams, serums and moisturizers absorb better. And with regular use, I definitely noticed a reduction in dry patches, oily areas and blemishes.

The sonic frequency moves Clarisonic's soft, gentle brush back and forth at more than 300 times per second, thoroughly clearing pores and skin's surface. Impressive stuff!

What is included in the price?

The pack contains Clarisonic Mia One Speed Brush, International pLink™ charger for worldwide use, Sensitive Brush Head  and 1.0 oz Refreshing Gel Cleanser.

What are the benefits?

- Removes makeup six times better than traditional methods.
- Clears pores and reduces the appearance of pore size.
- Cleanses so thoroughly that skincare products absorb better.
- Creates noticeably healthier looking skin.

How I use it

  • Remove eye makeup by hand.
  • Wet your skin and the brush head with warm water.
  • Liberally apply cleanser to my skin or to the brush head.
  • Turn Clarisonic on and gently move the brush using a small circular motion, beginning on the forehead, and then moving to the nose/chin area and the cheeks.
Mia will automatically shut off after one minute.
  • The Mia handle is waterproof for use in the shower or bath.

Yah or Nah?

Unless you’ve got very resilient skin, I’d build up from once a week to more often. And just because they say you can doesn’t mean you have to do it twice a day either. I really only do it myself a few times a week and whenever I’ve worn a lot of makeup.

A confusing point to note is – The Clarisonic is not an exfoliator. In fact, the device is more accurately categorised as a cleansing system. You still need to exfoliate your skin. You’ll still get a slight physical exfoliation because it’s a brush instead of your fingers.

I think the pore claim (that they’ll appear smaller) is probably stronger than the wrinkle one. I wouldn’t say it’s anything dramatic, although perhaps it would be if your pores were very, very congested to start with. Personally, I think I’ve noticed a slight benefit with pores around the nose area.

With wrinkles, I’m not sure. Maybe it reduces them by helping your creams and serums penetrate better.

Worth its weight in gold!
