Would I ever have bought a Michael Kors bag for myself? No. This one was gifted to me and I actually love it, mainly because of my love affair with powder blue.

I'm so bored of brown and black. I'm so bored of every second person in the street with the same bag

but

this bag came at a good time in my life when it is packed full of baby things as well as my own few bits. By 'few' I mean enough things to give me serious backache.

 

This powder blue version was sold out almost immediately online and in every store. It's

described as "the (chic) tech-friendly tote" and I have to agree.  It's elegant structured style and spacious inside make this a great work / yummy mummy bag.

 

Note to Michael Kors- lose the tacky charm!

What's in my makeup bag?

 

Everyone loves a nosey into someone else's makeup bag, right? Its personally my favourite thing to do! I know this looks like a lot of makeup and obviously I don't wear it everyday but these are my go-to products when the need arises....

I apply my bases using Real Techniques Expert Face Brush , At the moment, I love Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet  in B20, it is expensive but you only need a tiny amount. It's lightweight yet smoothes and evens out the complexion for a velvety matte makeup result.

Another all time favourite is NARS Sheer Glow in punjab, not at all sheer! but it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Next I keep everything in place with a sweep of Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot which gives skin a traceless, smooth, velvety finish.
 

 I love NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in custard for any blemishes & Maybelline Dream Lumi™ Touch Highlighting Concealer in Nude for under the eyes to cancel any purple/blue undertones. We all have those right?!

 

Once the base is done, I sweep  NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder in a '3' shape, into the hollows and up on the forehead. My inner Kim K!! This olive based medium tan shade has a slight ashen tone that lends itself well to contouring as well as being perfect for warming up light to medium skin tones.

 Blush wise, my all time favourite, is NARS Deep Throat (cheeky!), it's the perfect sheer peach and a great everyday shade.  To brighten up my skin, I use  MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralised Skin Finish, this little gem is described as a 'gilded peach bronze', its a luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Add to cheeks, brows or body for a glow.

                                   

If I fancy a bit of eye colour, this is what I reach for. The Urban Decay Naked Basic Palette- It is the palette EVERY woman needs in her beauty arsenal. With six stripped-down, neutral shadows, it has everything you need for the perfect neutral matte eye, with a slight sheen and a suede-like feel. L'Oreal The Super Slim by Infallible® Never Fail eyeliner is perfect for creating sleek and sophisticated eyes in one simple stroke! I follow up this with Maybelline Falsies mascara.

My every day lip is Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector This iconic creamy balm really is the perfect ‘my lips but better’ colour. It’s a lovely natural peach that provides a slight glossy sheen. A new addition is this No7 High Shine Lip-Crayon in 'daydreamer', it provides a gorgeous glossy lip colour in a crayon format which is really easy to wear. I always have MAC Patisserie in my makeup bag just in case. Barely there, but still a polished effect.

Set adjacent to the ruins of 800-year-old castle, this 220-acre estate has a 17th-century manor house nestled amid Corks woodlands , The stunning Castlemartyr Resort, a luxury 5 star hotel, seeped in history.

Upon arrival, the concierge looked after us like old friends. We felt at home already! 

 

 

 

  

 

Our room was warm and inviting .  Touchscreen panels to control the lights and curtains were a nice touch too but ultimately it's nothing that you wouldn't expect in this price bracket.

The bathrooms are very spacious and have separate rainforest shower, with full bath, marbled topped double vanity and separate toilet.

 

 

No fighting for space in this bed!

After all that, a trip to Franchini's is just what we need... We weren't expecting the hour long wait for our foot long pizza though....

 

 

It was delicious and staff were apologetic. Forgiven.

The Spa at Castlemartyr is pretty impressive with 7 individual treatment rooms and 2 Couples Suite, 4 Manicure/Pedicure Stations overlooking the magnificent gardens, relaxation & vitality lounges, heated indoor pool, steam room, sauna and jet pool.

The spa uses the ESPA range known for its natural, high quality skincare products, deeply relaxing and anti-stressing oils, revitalizing seaweeds, cleansing muds, exfoliating sea salts and therapeutic herbs. Overall, the spa prices are surprisingly reasonable, with facials from as little as €89


 Relaxation and rejuvenation are high on the agenda here!

A quick refuel in the informal Knights bar , celeriac soup, chicken sandwiches & mango chocolate cheesecake followed by smoked salmon, creme fraiche with parsnips chips more than satisfied us.

 

If its fine dining you want, the award-winning restaurant The Bell Tower offers gourmet dining as well as a traditional afternoon tea menu including Smoked Salmon on Irish Soda Bread and home-made scones made with fresh, locally sourced produce.

A 10 minute drive away brought us to Ballymaloe house, arguably Ireland's most famous dining experience situated in a 400 acre estate. As expected, all food is locally sourced and home grown from the garden and farm.

We sampled some food in the tiny café that was bustling with young families, the sun was out and it was just glorious!
